I have to wonder why the butterflies on the blowers aren't really moving very much???????? You would think at idle the butterflies would be closed, but it doesn't seem the case with this engine.

The butterflies do not need to be hooked up for it to work efficiently. There is another throttle opening somewhere behind the scoop that controls the throttle.
Some scoops have no flaps at all to start with.

You would need that much HP to get it down the road. I bet that thing weighs as much as a house. Pretty Freaking sweet though!

This is for a semi truck.. who cares about weight.
Usual HP is around 200-400 hp with 1000ft lbs of torque.

This is over 3,000 HP, I wonder what kind of torque it is putting down.

Probably as much as itself sitting at the end of a 1ft lever! Assuming it weighs about 8753lbs...

But really, if it were spinning at 1800rpm, you're looking at 8750 lbs/ft (moving mountains are we?)

Is it just me or does it look like they have one crankshaft belt turning all 9 belts to the blowers????? It also looks like the blowers are WAY under driven, I wonder how many are necessary and how many are for show?

Anyway, I wanna see this bad boy put in a UPS truck :)

Your way off on your info. Even freight trucks like UPS, Yellow, JB Hunt, etc are running trucks in the 350-400hp range with 1500 lb ft of torque. Most owner operators that haul cattle are running 550-650hp with nearly 2000 lb ft of torque.

Detroit is not known for having high torque, I would bet it would have a hard time hitting 3000. I'm sure its going in a show truck and will never be anything more then a show truck and idle its whole life. I have seen a couple trucks with 3412 cats in them and that is an impressive sight.

I'm leaving tomorrow to finish up a diesel rebuild, I'll post up some pictures next weekend, its not all shiny but much bigger.
