for 250.00 just couldnt pass it up. Tank is excellant, has all the hard to find goodies. ive already gotten into it a bit, it was together, and running when i got it. Front tire was flat. he gave me another, but that tire is no good also. Came with extra pegs, the ones on it are bent. extra switch also. Figures i just sold my rear fenders from my parts machine. Got an idea for some make shift fenders though. this is just going to be a beater basically. I'm sick of breaking all my nice stuff. every time i ride. I cleaned the carb, adressed the air filter, swinger is tight, but wheels have some play, hubs are prob worn. Hope to get it reliable in a week or so. needs some brake attention also, but thats basically it. I am quite happy with the purchase.

Nice find on the tool kit, well the whole thing but WOW on the kit! Don't see that often.
I agree with not wanting to break the nice ones. I am building my 350x into a daily rider, so my 200x can be build into more of a monster. Have fun.

Nice score, gotta love when they still have the tool kit. The 250ES I just picked up has it in it too. Didn't look like it had ever been taken out. It seems like everyone if grabbing up 250ES's on here.

the sx with the strykers came from NY, the one with the rack is much nicer and came from mass. I love the sx's also.
tires on the bigred are mud sharks.
the underside of the seat was all grimey, i cleaned it to like new, and really was amaZed at the condition of the tool kit. Even has the pressure gauge!
wait till you see what i have in store for fenders lol!! I will get to this a bit on sat. and will post up some progress pics for us bigred nutts!!

Just saw the pics, great find. That tank is sweet and you have the side panels also. I am getting an 85 250 sx this summer that I am super stoked about. It looks like it has never been ridden with the exception of rusty wheels. You have a nice collection in your garage.

little update, i got it basically where i want it now, just gotta start reassembling it. rear end is in good shape, hub splines are slightly worn like i thought, everythng just needs a clean and grease. almost done with the fenders lol. i think they will work out great. I have a spare muffler that was rotted the same as this one that i patched up good, i will use that one, and patch this one up. the foot pegs only had one stock bolt left, the other 3 are all drilled through. i guess i will just get some grade 8 bolts to put through there the ones that where in it where all bent to hell. Hopefully i can get this beast going soon.

Those are going to be some interesting blue fenders. Did that come from a blue plastic barrel?

fabrication of fenders is done! , might dress them up a bit here and there. Quite a franken fender i know, but hey its a rat rodd lol. got a bunch of stuff cleaned up this weekend, not nearly as much as i wanted, but double christmas party weekend, not much time for the toys. I welded up the exhaust at work, not the best, but i'm learning as i go. We got a little 120v lincln mig in the maint. shop, and since i work alone i can tinker with my stuff while i'm there. Its been fun just kinda fartin around with it and trying to learn how to use it. i salvaged the sprk arrestor and welded it from the back side to this donut shape piece of metal i cut out, then welded it back to the can, big patch on the bottom too. solid as a rock now, awaiting some paint. Home made air filter. gonna have to buy an oil filter, and some brake pads for this one thats about it. i have some marine viynl for the seat already, and Killer donated some foam for repair of the existing foam. will post picks as i get things done, so if your interested check back.

should i krylon the fenders red, or leave them, i'm leaning tward leaving them, as i know the paint never seems to stick well to the plastic so they say. I can paint some other things blue to tie in the barrel fenders, or just rock it as is. let me know your thoughts.

Maybe you should paint the rear racks white and have a red, white, blue bike going. I would paint them, and continue to touch them up as needed.

krylon makes a spray paint that bonds to plastic it holds fairly good but you want to let it set for a day or two

Cool project. I recently aquired a 250 es. A real piece of trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro. But hopefully will turn out nice. I will post a thread to. Really like the barrel fenders.

I would leave the fenders, pealing paint on plastic looks like your trying to hide it. Just rock the blue barrel fenders. Either way I like the way they turned out. Looks like your handle bars came with the same factory bend as mine.

If you do try to paint them... Use a spray can adhesion promoter... Like bulldog or something similar... Cant be found at 99% of auto parts stores...

still waitin to put this back together, now that the holidays are over i should have more time. All i need is about 2-3 hrs and its a go. amazing its so hard to find a few spare hrs. perfect now though as it has been around 40 deg for the last few days so its not too cold in the garage.
