I ordered the parts unlimited "mega pull start" cable this week to rebuild a spar 90 pull starter I have

seems to be just a nylon coated clutch cable. Did it work for anyone as well as advertised? I also got 2 of their "big al" pull start handles, since most of my factory ones are falling apart from being 20 years old.
as for install, do you have to wind the spring tighter for this cable? Im also thinking of pre shaping the cable by wrapping it around something round so it will keep it's shape better.

also, Ive rebuilt the pull starters before, but can't remember how tight I need to wind the spring up..has anyone done a write up on it? If not, should I do one for the tech section?

I put one on my 185 years ago, there great, you wont ever have a broken rope again.
At first it may be stiff but will shape up on it's own after a little while.
I just rebuilt the starter normal when I installed it, I didn't do anything special like winding the spring tighter.

As for how long they last, the coating on the cable is just starting to crack and split now - it's been over 8 years.
For comparison - the over sized handle I put on at the same time was shot about 2 years ago from dry rot- but even so I think over 6 years is a good service life for recoil parts.
I'm planning on getting a new cable and handle soon (actually 2 - 1 for my mini bike), but even if I didn't I'm sure I can get a few more years out of it no problem, that's if the handle doesn't break.
