I can not get the dang thing out. i can turn it with a socket and it actually turns pretty easy. i put a socket on it and try to tap it out. nothing. then i use a mini sledge. still nothing, no movement at all. are there tricks to getting them off? thanks, collin

Mine was the same mate, youll end up having to get a thin grinder blade and cutting the bolt twice, where the bushes are between the frame and swinger. They get pretty froze in there. I just saved myself the headache, cut and and got a new bolt and new bearing and bush kit.

Common problem. It's seized by metal reaction inside there. I had to cut mine out on my 200x also

on my 200x i had to beat the living sh!t out of it and wrecked the bolt. im thinking of drilling the swinger and installing a grease nipple.

the problem is you can't get to the place that needs the grease by greasing the swinger.. its froze between the sleeve and the swingarm bolt itself,, i take my swinger nut off and beat the swingarm bolt back and forth several times with a plastic hammer at least once a season. but i have pulled all of them out and greased them good too.. even the new 450 was pulled out and greased .

I would recommend soaking the area on the swinger in a solvent like PB BLASTER for a spell before pounding the hell out of it-do you have torches by chance? Heating the swinger bearings or frame end alittle might loosen the bolt up enough to tap it out, even a propane torch could work, but that heat my take alittle more time to get the metal hot then a regular torch itself.Tyr the PB BLASTER or KROIL Kragers,Menards, Auto Zone, etc all have it on the shelf, spray it periodically over the day,let it soak and try tomorrow.

I have posted before how to get them out. You will have to search. But I tip the trike on the side and soak it down with good penetrant for a few days. Use alot. And use a impact gun to spin the bolt around from time to time, and re apply more penetrant. Then use a Air hammer to drive the bolt out after a few days. Sometimes you have to work it back and forth with the air hammer. I have never had to cut one out using this method.

When I install the new swinger bolt, if they are hollow(some models are not hollow) cut your old bolt and check. I drill a couple 1/8 holes in the bolt shaft and the drill holes on one end of the swinger bolt, the install grease fittings on the ends of the bolt. That way you can grease the bolt and it will go in between the sleeves and keep them from seizing in the future. It takes a few hours of work, but saves days of headaches in the future.
FYI 400ex swinger bolts fit the 85 R and are cheaper.
Also Super Dave makes nylon swinger bushings instead of the needle ones. They last longer and are easier to remove.

Good luck indeed, I had to sledge mine out (85-250r)and it spun freely too! It was completely seized to the bearings which had rusted to nothing! I was able to drive it out, but the threads were shot! I was able to die the threads but it made me nervous. Found a new bolt on flea-bay. I lucked out...these are harder to find now. I heard the 84-250r bolts are next to impossible to track down now! :(

ok this has to be the most frustrating thing ive ever dealt with with a 3 wheeler. i pb blasted, air hammered, heated it, hammered it, sledge hammered it, and cussed at it all day and still froze in there! im getting some good metal blades for the sawzaw tomorrow. i just ordered a new swingarm bolt on ebay. Mosh, how much does Super Dave charge for those new bushings. I think i wanna get some of those too
