1982 vs 1983 185S Air Box

Anybody know if the air box from the '83 185 will fit an '82? Or is the frame / exhaust different somehow, and not allow it to fit? --Trying to fix up an 82 that I bought for my son (before x-mas.) The original air box is gone, and they put a UNI filter in there that doesn't fit right, or even seal good. So I am looking for an original. The 83 box has a lid (which I like) instead of a solid 1 piece box.

I'm not sure. They look like they could line up, but it would be hard to say without trying it. I'm guessing it won't be a simple bolt on though

Yeah, I looked at these diagrams myself and couldn't tell. The 82 box has a mount (part # 12) that bolts to the frame. I dont see anything like that on the 83. My main concern is that it would hit the exhaust below it and not fit. I'm open to using a generic / universal air filter, but I don't know what might fit. The original carb to box snorkle is crumbling apart, so I need to find a substitute (maybe a piece of radiator hose?)
