I've had this motor for 5 or more years. It's been in an outbuilding but not a conditioned environment. I never even sealed the intake or exhaust pics.

This motor will go in my 450R/250R/350X trike

The thing is spotless, not a hint of rust. It will be getting the 10.25 Wiseco and Megacycle camshaft treatment along with there other products and a 400EX carb.

I guess that means the other crate motor in the house is spotless.......

Anyhow, thought I'd share the pics :D

i sure would like all of the usual dirtcrasher details and pictures on this motor build that you share in all of your other builds. you do such good work it inspires the rest of us hacks( well me anyway) to pay attention to detail the way you do.

This is NOT a good thread for those of us who suffer from premature e@&^$&*%$#n! LOL!

I had the chance to pick up a crate motor for a 350x i had when i was a teenager, but sadly i just didnt have the $800. Always used to daydream about getting a brand new engine and take super good care of it instead of getting second hand beat to crap stuff.....

Have fun with your build!

now i have to go change my pants! LOL
seriously, that is amaizing! use a used jug and keep the stocker jug and pisotn together as a set. they are rear and if your going to do machinging, why not jsut get a used one , blast and repaint it after machining? cheaper and will still work fine. I'd hate to see you ruin a precious special part of history over a $35-$45 jug you can get on ebay.

DC, think about this. TURBO! yes i found a source that makes tiny turbos and I have another source for creating a EFI system. I'm working on it for my sons racing ATV (70cc) but the injector can be used up to a 400cc bike, and with an injector swap you can go as big as you want. Think about it. a fuel injected turbo charged engine. How does that sound?

I know someone running a fair sized turbo on a trike. It works really sweet also. But the trike is a tad bigger than a 70. LOL
DC, that is pretty sweet looking in there. I'm surprised there is no corrosion on the steel parts as well as anything on the aluminum. You didn't do any fogging or the engine while it's been sitting, have you? Just curious. I wish I was up there to see this, well, at least till I hear the weather reports! LOL I don't know how you do it. It would be nice to have a neighbor with a front end loader though. I'm thinking seriously plowed driveway.

Now that is impressive. It makes me wonder what the inside of my motor looks like...

I honestly did absolutely nothing except stick it on a shelf for 5 or 6 years.......

Funny thing is that the other one has a carb, kicker etc and is all taped closed.

Hopefully later today I'll assemble the top end; Should be cake, no broken bolts, no screwdriver marks, all brandy new :D

This weekend it's suppose to get warmer so hopefully I can paint the frame and hang it up inside. No money for blasting and powder right now, I'm sure I can tear it down in about an hour in the future.......

Glad you all like it :D I'll break in the cam and beat the snot out of it to test the "you have to replace the clutch" theory. Honestly, I'd probably do it now but I don't have a clutch cover gasket; Thats the only one missing from the whole damn kit
