The forks on my big red are pretty much shot, there's no travel and they don't really spring back. I was wondering if I got a set of forks from a big red 250 or a 250sx(or some other type of honda racing trike) would they fit my trike? I'd prefer those as the big red 200 has no rear suspension, so better front suspension would be more than welcome.

Nobody has any input? Can the stock forks be rebuilt?

Yeah you can rebuild them, go under "world class help" and download the manual.

So according to the manual it's only springs, so all I would need to do is order the springs and install them?

Let us know when you find out. I have the same problem on a old big red I bought a couple of months ago. It is a 1984 200 big red. I think a hay rack rides better than it does.

Yeah, my front forks are wore to hell and back, it's almost dangerous to ride with them giving as much slack as it is.

yea same her with my forks.... they spring back but man they could use some fresh steel inside them. they dont look real hard to rebuild ive read the manual on it.... mostly taking the front end off would be the hardest i think...

I have rebuilt two sets now and it can be very costly when you are all done but worth it. I would tear it apart before you order any parts. The only part that wasn't available was the the spring I think everything else you can get from a honda dealer on my two the springs were ok anyway. Usually the two dampers are shot (they aren't cheap) there is three plastic pieces in each fork that are usually wore out and fun to get out they keep the top tube tight in there and are meant to wear thinner over time. The dust seals will priobably be pretty wore too. The rubber bushing at the top of the damper is a little tricky to get pressed in there too. I would start by taking your old ones apart and see how far gone they are and if there is something there to rebuild. I would rebuild before taking my chance on a used set. I have been pleased with the end result of the two I did its not a hard job by any means it just takes some time. I have seen alot of guys use the forks off a 200m it is a far superior design as the 200es forks are easily ruined by water and need to be sealed really well.

I've been told by a very helpful member via pm that forks from an 85-87 big red 250 will fit, they are oil filled and made for a bigger machine, so I think they would do quite well on the 200.
Does anyone know if the wheel from a big red 200 will fit the 250? I'm guessing the brake assembly would be different as well?

the wheel and tie will work on the 250 forks but the axle may not work without mods the 200m set is the same size and your axle might work ,either way when you buy the forks get the axle ,. the hub and brakes to if you can!! . 250 sx forks or 83 to 85 200 x forks will work also but look a lot different on the bike ,more suspension

too bad, I just sold a set of these on ebay few weeks back for cheap. I'd have rather sold them to someone on here... almost got neg feedback cause the guy didn't like having to pay the shipping charges...

Say a person has an entire frontend from a 250es, would it be a bolt on front as a whole?

So any year 250sx forks will fit on it?
250sx uses a 22 inch tire.. so that probably is not gonna fly

Well if I got some 250sx forks then I would need a new wheel but as long as the steering tube will fit it would work. I would also get way better suspension, I think it's a good trade off.

I am about 99% sure the triple tree shafts are all the same on most Honda's (diameter). So hopefully that will open up your chances of finding something that will work to get you going....I have had many guys call me wanting to know if another setup would work. I tell them that as long as they don't care about a headlight, then I can get something together...like the others said the brakes and wheel will be different. Good luck.

So would I keep my CDI box and handlebars, or would I need a whole front end?

keep your cdi and handlebars. the triples will not work. the neck tube is shorter on the triples. there was a post where someone did a little cutting and welding and made one fit.

If I put some 250sx or 200x forks on it, I'm sure they're a lot taller, would it not upset the balance and make the bike lean back? I can't really do anything to raise the rear end because it's got no suspension.

Rebuilding the forks can be costly. Depending on how far gone they are. The real important thing is to still have good chrome on the upper weldment where it rides in the plastic bushings. Ive been looking for years for new springs. Most are still good though.
The 84/85 200M front end is the only other one I know that runs the 25x12-9 tire. And has better shocks. If you dont care about originality, then go the 200m front end. You'll need the whole fork assembly, brake hub and headlight. You could skip on the headlight
