If i was to buy a 1986 350x (such as this one - http://novascotia.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-ATVs-snowmobiles-ATVs-honda-atc-350x-completely-rebuilt-with-brand-new-oem-or-mint-oem-W0QQAdIdZ241486949) would I be able to depend on honda's good reputation and not have to fix it every month? Not including basic maintenance of course. In other words, how reliable is a 350x?
Thanks, Ryan

It's a 25 year old machine. There is no such thing as a sure thing with any machine, never mind one that is a quarter of a century old. If you want to get into this hobby you need to either be a mechanic, or have a lot of money. Even if you're going to be doing all the work yourself on the machine it's still expensive. I just had two of my buds get into trikes recently and I told the both of them before they got into it what they were getting themselves into. Even with fair warning the pair of them still weep from time to time. It's a labor of love. You will never get back what you but in financially, but the payout in smiles is huge.

Man that thing is ugly. The nos tank, seat, and motor are very nice though. He says the carrier is new as well, those can be spendy (200-300$). I don't see anyway that he has $7,000 into it though.
To answer your question, 350x's were great. With a fresh motor and rear end that thing is ready for another 25 years. Is it worth the $2,500 he is asking? I have seen better deals. But the NOS motor is worth $1,500, the seat and tank are another $800 The rear carrier is at least $200. Plastics are Maier and probably $300 a set. The $2,500 price tag isn't bad for the parts that are included.
The frame would be something to look closely at. It was probably rough before the rebuild, and there were a couple weak parts in the 350x frames.

Also something to be considered is who put it together. All the nice parts mean nothing if put together by a hack. Whenever I see you Canadian guys shopping for a trike I realize how good we have it here, especially on the West coast. Good luck!

I'm from Canada and I wouldn't touch that for 2500. ^^^^ has it right, If he's got 7 large tied up in that it's 3 for parts and 4 for shipping. For a total ground up build it looks pretty rough. 1500 max. You would think $20 on some new fork boots or possibly a front brake system would be on the list before repainting a "crate" new gas tank. I'd beware of the claims.

The only way there is $7000 in that bike, there better be $4000 in cash stuffed in the airbox. What happened to the "mint" heat shield? :)

Sounds off to me. He mentions crappy wheels but the pictures show 2 different sets of tires both with decent wheels. Says it needs a seat latch but mentions a mint seat latch. It just seems off to me. See if you can drag him down to 1700.00. Also second picture show either a fuel leak or oil leak.
I bought a complete 85 350x for 400. It was in pieces but all there. Keep looking if he wont come off the price.
