yt125 questions

Hello 3WW, I am pretty new here and I would like to extend a warm HELLO. Anyways, I am thinking of purchasing a 1980 Yamaha YT125. The owner says that it is in excellelent condition, except the carburetor "needs work". If anyone could inform me of the most common carburation problems with this trike, and the remedies to fix them, It would be greatly appreciated.

I am sure it just needs a proper cleaning. There is nothing special or different about the little Mikuni- very basic. The only trouble I think you could have might be with the choke/cable being froze up but that is very basic as well. I just picked up a 81 YT125 that had not run in over 10 years and after a five minute carb clean it runs great- idles great and all. Infact I just went and checked the mail on it! Good luck!

Thanks for the info, I will be sure to do a thorough cleaning of it. that is if I get it.
