I was messing with my big red250 and noticed there was alot of gunk on the cap for the rear end oil so I scrapped away some of it with a flathead and it caved in!!!Looks like some sodered over a hole that was in the middle of the cap(I dont know why there was a hole in the first place because the rest of the cap unscrewed out by hand so it isnt like it was stuck in there).I got the big peices out of there that went in but I need to know a couple things.

1st,can I drain the rear end oil and how?I noticed theres little black caps(?) on the guard but im not sure how to go about taking it off.
2nd,where in the heck am I going to find another oil cap for the back end? Anyone here have one they'd sell me?

Maybe Ebay and JB Weld might work but I wouldnt try as it could easily get in your diff gears and damage them.

Yeah, that 'drain' plug on mine is a 10mm head and kinda looks like a regular bolt.

Those differential fill caps are the same as...ready??
I forget.
honda 70 valve adjuster caps or something like that but I DO know they are avail. and fit something else real common.
I remember seeing them at dratv.com aka beatrice cycle in Nebraska.
Its just been too long and too traumatic for me to remember exactly.

If you do a search on here, it will come up.

I don't mean to be a wise... but I had the same prob.

Went to the autoparts store and bought like a 1 inch rubber expander plug that you tighten with a wrench.

Take either the trike or the cap to match up the size and make sure.
I think I even found some expander plug at a marine supply too.

The torque specs on that aluminum cap is only like 7-9 ft lbs so someone prob cranked on it.

I think I even wrapped mine with teflon tape a few wraps so it went in snug.
It kinda looks like tapered pipe thread but it is not.
They are straight threads and cannot tighten without the top of the cap or plumbers tape

You'll be ok and riding soon.

The trike spirits do these things to us periodically to keep us humble.

ps

you can stand the trike up like, front wheel on a picnic table and then rinse out the diff with your choice of fluid.

If you have the front high enough, whatever you spray in there will run right back out that big fill hole.

Considering the real drain plug is 10mm head and maybe a 6mm drain hole and you want to see chunks come back out from the broken fill plug.

They have the same thread as a lot of the tappet covers on some Hondas, I'm pretty sure its also the same thread as the oil screen cap on 200X style engines. It will be easy to find one. Just JB weld it until you get a new one.

Fill it with gas, tip it backwards.

Like said before, they break super easy and many valve cover caps fit (allot of the Honda CB's etc etc), I think there's even a left timing cover flywheel cap that fits.........

I use a short wrench and go easy on it.

no not yet,I have new fenders on the way, footbrake, brake cables, gasket set, brake pads, and soon to be cylinder head.Once I get the rest of the stuff on im gonna work on the rear brake.
I downloaded the manual on my laptop for it so thats helping some :) ....I think it just might be the cable and needs brake pads.
