I'll be making my way to Florida (From Michigan) this summer for a week and was thinking of hauling the ATV's down there to ride a bit. Anyone know of the rules for bringing out of state rides down there to ride in specific areas? Likely Ocala National Forest since I'll be real close to there. It will be me and my 9 year old son. I know in MI he has to be 12 to be able to get a ORV permit to ride on public lands. Does FL have the same types or rules? What about licensing rules?
Thanks!!

I don'tk now what the rules are for out of staters, but for us FL guys you gotta have a title and registration sticker on the machine, and then you also now have to be a decal from the forestry service as I understand it as well. Its been 3, probably 4 years since I was at ONF so things might have changed. You might pm fla-2stoke (His name is Curtis) I know he rides there a lot. Also the site www.atvflorida.com might have some more up to date information for you.

ocala has changed from the glory days of having full run of 365,000 acres day or night. It is still is a good place to ride.you must stay on marked trails now.even though we sometimes dont.they do not enforce age limits but the rules are you must be 12 to ride a machine bigger than 80cc.also your son has to have an atv safety class.your bike needs registration from the state you live in if mi does not have this just carry a copy of of your title or bill of sale.also it is 10 bucks for 3 days or 75 yearly pass.enforcement is down from 2 years ago when all the new rules came in.we ride all day and never see anybody.there is a place called 5a that is not to far that I ride mostly now.It is about 60,000 acres, free to ride, legal with no rules. It is mostly fast sandy trails with some sections of mud.very dry now and great riding.funny I go up to baldwin mi every summer to ride.feel free to pm me about fla riding.I ride a ton and know a bunch of great trails.

Man cant wait I'll be riding 5a tomarrow!! kinda the funny thing I ride in Baldwin (and a few other Mi locations) and ocala last year. They are somewhat the same just the scenery is a bit diff and of course you can ride ocala this time of year unlike the MI trails ...unless you have a sled. I really think MI has the better riding during the summer.
