I just bought a 1983 200x and the kick start return spring is broken. Is there a stronger kick start i can replace it with?

Hey, sorry no one responded.
That may be the first time in 29 years it need to be replaced so a new one may take you beyond 2040.

There may also be some advice on replacing it with parts from a newer model year, if you try the 'search' function.

It also helps a lot if they start real easily, like 1/2 kick is always nice.

Hopefully someone will come up with some usable info for you.

Now all we have to do is join forces and find a solution to this broken kickstart problem.

You can either cut back the gears you have so they mate better or try to find one of the HD springs that were offered for these. I do not have the Part number handy for the spring, but if you search the forums you will find it. Also check out the world class help section of the forums for more information on this issue.
