if i wanted to put an xr 200 engine in my 1983 185s what differences would there be? and what changes would i have to make? any other engines fit in here?

I think the kick starter would be the bigest issue with the xr motor, otherwise it should be pretty close. You can use the 200s motor, it will bolt right in. You could also use a 200x motor, but am unsure if you would use the 185 or x motor mounts.

i kind of want to get an auto x, and get a bigger engine in this 185s to see how much fun it would be. im just worried about cables, throttle, carbs, chains, and the mounting part.

I used to have a 185S motor in an '85 200X frame. It was great. I loved that thing.

Same here, never really could feel that much much difference. Want some more power after all the basic mods done, bore and stroke it, and put a larger carb on it.

The bike 185 and 200 motors will fit fine but the kicker issue is there. If you use any of the electric start motors the front down tube will have to be modified, wiring changed, and a battery holder fabricated.
