Tri- z dg exhaust

I just got a DG pipe. Is it just me or does it have a funky spigot? I am used to engines where the header portion of the pipe sits flush against the cylinder. It seem like the DG spigot is about 1/2" too long.. and if it were trimmed to fit up flush the pipe would hit the frame. Anybody else ever notice this? the silencer wont bolt up either. I thought maybe my pipe had been altered but it looks just like picture i've seen of others. Is the DG system normally poor fitting on the Tri-z?

I have read some posts in here that talk about the crappy fit. I can't remember what they did to fix it. But yeah I guess it doesn't mount properly. I decided to go with the stock resonator, maybe do the mod to the pipe where you cut a portion near the head of the pipe out on the wrench report. Then just send it off for PC or something.

I can figure out a way to fix it. The pipe came with a lil sleeve that takes up some of the slack in the flange, but the spigot on the cylinder still doesnt reach all the way to the header pipe. I am just curious if this is normal. If i had fewer abilities and I bought one of these brand new i would be quite upset.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. It should at least say "some modification required" when you buy it or something. Must just be a cookie cutter generic pipe. I am not sure what other pipes we could use for the tri-z unless we had one made. I was thinking of getting an DG, but then I was reading either the wrench report, or some link with a tri-z factory racer saying he prefered the stock pipe over any aftermarket. So that settled it for me. But I agree, if it isn't going to bolt right on, they need to inform consumers. Seems like people were using exhaust gaskets from like napa or something.

never had a problem with any of there pipes fitting... you need to post a picture up,,, use the OEM Gaskets for the inlet..dont cry about the price.. your in a expensive hobbie ..;)

i have 2 DG systems and both have the problems you describe.... the silencer mounting hole is about 1" too far back from the frame hole so I made a little bracket to fix that. Once I get dressed and move out to the shed I'll add some pics.

i dunno now that i look at this picture it looks like maybe it could have gone in that second bolt. I remember I had issues with another triz too. That insert came with a used DG pipe I got. I bought a new DG pipe off ebay that didnt come with the insert. Ive used the felpro gasket which fits perfectly in the pipe but not in that insert. I had to stack a few of them in there plus RTV. Im gonna look into buying the stock gasket, for some reason I thought I couldn't get it but I guess it's for sale at bike bandit

If I remember correctly the exhaust port sticks out about 3/4"

Thanks for the pics. my bike is 7 miles away. I've got the same insert. On mine I can see where it had gotten crooked in the flange because the flange is too long to allow it to mate up against the header. I am curious to see what the oem gasket looks like... Although I cant see it doing much good in the dg pipe after looking at the flange on the stock pipe.
