Just for future reference- how do you replace/remove the right side bearing from the counterbalancer?

Assuming you're talking about the counterbalancer for an 85-89 250R, the gear needs to be pulled off & then the bearing.

-Yes 85-86 R,...How do I get the gear off- to get to the bearing? Without breakin it? Do you use a vertical press to remove and install the gear? Is this the only method?

No-I know how to remove the balancer, I'm talkin with the counterbalancer already removed from motor. The big end (right side) with the gear the (the bearing is behind it.)
The left bearing just slides off but the right side bearing is behind the gear which is pressed on. Lookin for a DIY approach possibly (without a press) to get the gear on/off.

When I replaced that bearing, I used a 3-finger gear puller which worked okay. I think a press would have worked better though, but like you, I didn't have access to one.

i'd go with either a clam shell n a H-bar puller or a 3 finger, make sure u mark the gear n the balancer, so u can line them back up. to install the gear/bearing i'd heat them in the oven to 350 and throw the balancer in the freezer for an hr. and the bearing n ger will fall right on. no press needed. i do this with ring n pinions all the time
