that is very cool, one of the best swaps i have seen on 3ww i cant wait to see the finished product, the swingarm was a direct bolt up at the pivot using the bigred parts?

thanks alot man, the thread really never got any respect on highlifter :( i was sadden that no one took interest, they were more worried about who was more hill billy on highlifter lol, then i found this sight and was like mabey they will like it lol. now there is a piece on a 250 fourtrax the made way back when that works sort of a spacer that allowed me to put it on ill have to take more pics to explain lol, the 300 swing arm is not as wide as the big red, but was way longer, i really need to find a seat and some back fenders if some one has some let me know im to this web site, also were cutting the front forks and adding 4 inch extensions, o and im going to 30's when i put the gear reduction in it out of my 300 4x4.

Those are some awesome trikes. Looks like a really nice build. I bet it would tear through some snow too. Good to know how to swap newer bigger engines into trikes. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Very interested to see more of this thing. I think it would send a lot of my buddies 4 wheelers back onto the trailer.

looks awesome! i'm had thoughts of doing the exact same thing for a while now. I saw soemone posted about the 300ex 4V motor? will that also bolt in? that may be a better optin for my idea as i want to use it as a tractor to work on our riding trails. once I get the bike up to snuff, i plan on making a dozer style front out of 1/4" plating and then use a stainless steel 1/2" blade on the bottom. use a wench to lift and what not like a snow plow. this will let me move dirty easier and get the trails cleared and even fill in the areas being washed away! Anyway, props man! looks awesome! how hard was it to get the rear shaft area to fit? can you give details about this " emove clip and gear" thing i read about? I'm not sure what your refering too.

thanks man no the 300ex 4 valve head has to have a special cam made because a 300ex motor spins the oppisite way of a regular 300trx, it has been done though i have seen it myself, o and if your wanting to make a work horse like that do a swap like i did and put a gear reduction in it way more reliable than the unsure 300ex head and more power to, i am going to put on in this 3 wheeler when i take it out my 300 4x4 this thing, http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/l628/Asd59878/c108a24f.jpg, i know yall dont like quads but its an 88 model so its an old school honda lol, and the remove clip and gear, when you take the big red output shaft out the is usuallly an extra gear and clip on it just take it off.

Love the tires on that TRX. The Big Red looks great, nice snorkel.

I'm hoping to get the 4 valve head done real soon, just had some stripped threads repaired and custom studs made....was going to get modeling clay on it with a machinist tonight, but 4' of snow on the ground means it's not getting out of my shed for awhile....need my bobcat or a snowblower to clear a path first.

therealfatshady bout time i see you on here lol, thanks man the gr is coming out of that trx and into my red lol, i will prolly have to cut down the output shaft from where it sticks out the bearing i think we discussed that but i think i can make it work

My only fear doing that is that the end of the output shaft (where it sticks out near clutch) would be a giant hollow hole if you cut it, as opposed to just the smaller hole on the end for the oil feed line. Know what I mean?

IF I ever get my Big Red back together, I will definitely get a GR. Already have a few spare 300ex engines for the parts for it. My 250sx is real fun in the snow, but I'd like a little more bottom end and larger tires, which will go on my Big Red.

Update on the 4 valve head swap

Studs were 3/4" too short, 2 valve top end uses 7 bolts, only 4 on the 4 valve top end.
Piston doesn't touch valves, doesn't come within .050" of it. Apparently on the 250 engine it does and needs valve reliefs cut out of piston, but I think it's due to the 300 motor having a longer stroke. Looks like it will be good to go, just need some top end gaskets now.

Alread have the 250 output shaft in the 300 engine, and I have the wiring for it. And have a 250x carb (had to cut some length off choke lever to work) that is on my SX now. So that will go in the 4 valve 300sx.

And the 480r project is coming along, got it partially mocked up. Need a few more mounts, and two spacers on the swingarm, but the chain alignment looked good, got new bearings for the swingarm, got the engine to fit in the frame properly.......hopefully it will be ride-able within a week. Then stripped for powder.
