I am doing a 86 250R restoration and have a stainless bolt kit for it but some of the trinkets like the seat release and metal tabs for the tool box had a gold finish on them whats does everyone else do? Just have them powder coated black or chromed? I'm looking for ideas. I'll get some pics up this weekend I got it all ready to blast. have to take blown motor out of 85 and send it to ESR for a new crank, bearings hinson clutch upgrade and the once over the rest of it. I have the 310 PV but undecided if I should go bigger. Looking for feed back on that from anyone??? I'm pretty interested in a west coast + 2 swing arm. Just bought a RPM dominator 1+4 axle new for $280. I got a ESR exhaust and retro ed a 12 pack of super trap disk on it it really took the bark out of it for trail riding around those pesky dnr.

look for someone local that does zink or Cadmium plating... they can be striped and replated relatively cheap...

Sounds nice with all those mods, but that's not a "restoration".

Here's one solution to get that gold cadmium look:

Well I guess its a rebuild I'm still replacing everything new except the the rear swing arm I've replace everything there. I want to upgrade the swing arm and shock. First pic is last april when I got it original owner all the original plastic and the motor has never been apart. 2nd is in november after a summer of riding. Put on around 800 miles while riding with my brother inlaw, he has a odometer. Plus another tank of gas a week all year riding around in some local fields with my kids and wife. It got used.

I bought this kit.... it works but its not nearly as nice as a pro plater...

my first load of parts and nuts and bolts only cost me 20 bucks to get done... find a shop that does it and go ask it'll turn out a lot better... my guy runs my stuff with the other items they do for big orders, i think the money goes right in his pocket but i could care less...
