we were just wondering tonight how the indians stayed warm, and what they ate, esp in the northern states.

Unlimited firewood and a woodstove helps but it gets old fast.

It's been getting below 0 at night here the the last few nights. I don't like it that cold but I do like it to stay below freezing so the snow doesn't melt. I have a lot more snowmobiling to do!

Bring on global warming! I propose that everyone sprays at least one aerosol can into the atmosphere today to get rid of some ozone. That should help, lol.

Look at the bright side, oil is up to about 4$ a gallon and in a cold month you can burn a whole tank.

Wood stove here I come...........

Im sick of it too. It was nice and sunny earlier, so I washed the jeep. got home and went out to get the wet spots off the windows with some windex. The windex crystallized before working as a cleaner and I ended up having to scrape off the stuff. Luckily I used the rain-x (on windshield, not windows I was trying to windex) while it was still sunny. It went from 35-40 to 22 with a wind chill of 10 just from some dang clouds.

went from long sleeve shirt to carhart....sucks

I put firewood on my deck and have put the same amount each year and this will be the first time in about 10 years that I will run out. Have enough left for about two weeks.

We have enough for one more night! Thank god it's suppose to warm up here. They're calling for rain tomorrow, should make for a good mess!

yep the snow is getting old, i plow our lane and its a mile long, in years past i have only had to plow it a couple of times a year so i can take the horse manure way out back everyday,
needless to say it takes about 3 hours with my tractor to clear and sometimes more depending on the snow,
so far this year i have put the tractor in the ditch once on the side of the lane, i got sucked in over the edge, had to go to our shop fire up our backhoe and use the backhoe boom to pull the tractor out and support it as it was near tipping over in the very steep ditch.
have had to double up on the blanket liners on our horses as we have dipped well below 0 several times and they hate to be locked in the stalls all day.
so i am pretty tired of the snow and cold here on the farm and for work.

I am tired of it.

We went from hi 60's in late Nov, to basically just 20s all through up til now.
The snow is fun for a few weeks.
The past 2 weeks have been below 30, sometimes only 10-15 degrees.
Then we got all that ice, and another 4-6 inches on that.
We had 2 cords of wood and are now down to about a rick or 20 percent left.
We had 3 people get stuck in our driveways this week, and the plow truck is tired.
Supposed to be get upper 40's this week..Can't wait.
today will be tolerable so I am gonna play on the monster 70.

In the last 2 weeks we have had 27" of snow. This is more snow than I have seen in this area of Kansas since 1992 when I moved here. It has been in the -negatives more in the last 2 weeks than it has since I moved here in 92. Believe me Arizona looks better with every snowflake. I'm a California boy.. The winters get me down.. make me miserable. I can't stand the thought of being miserable for 5 months a year for the rest of my life. May be moving soon. Closer to Glamis and Ocotillo Wells.. all the better..

Oh yeah, it's suposed to be in the 50's tomorrow and almost 70 on tuesday. Where is all the water going to go from this frozen snow piled up everywhere? Can you say flood??

I am starting to get spring fever, but I really do enjoy winter.
It will be over soon, then it's back to mowing again.

Exactly Doug & everbody else. It's exhausting keeping the vehicles running. Expensive to stay warm. And the wind hurts at 20+ m.p.h. I've been doin' this for over 30 years and it's last it's allure. And as dcreel said, brings you down. But it's everybody. This is the worst nation wide weather in recorded history. The biggest unemployment rate. And more folk are living in poverty. How can we do this with the expense of winter? I feel ya folks, we're all in the same boat and it sucks. To top it off, I've been a bad, cranky mood for nearly 3 years (?), maybe just age, IDK.

As sick as it sounds.. I love getting on the rider with a iced down Mt. Dew and mowing our 2.5 acres. I look forward to it every week.
