200x Carb questions

I just want some opinions on a carb for my girls 84 200x.. the bike is being built as we speak and should be done in two weeks.. its running a fresh stock motor, airbox w no lid, Uni filter, and a full dg exhaust..
as far as carbs go im looking at two options and wonder what you all think im basically down to either a 27mm or 30mm keihin... which do you think would be best for this application and why????

i would go with a 27 or 28 on your 200x. a 30mm would be for a built motors look at a few of the 200x build on here. the 30mm would be more for top end and high rpm range but but i don't know if it would work right on you bike. do you have an after market cam? if not go with the 27 for sure it will never run right with the 30mm

the problem your going to have is tuning. the larger the carb, the harder it is to tune it. unless you did a lot of performance work to the engine, you cna sue the stocker and jsut rejet, it get a XR200 that's 2mm larger and jet it as you need to tune. the larger ones than that will make it a bit difficuly to tune as you will expirence hickups when goig from idle to WOT with a slam of the throttle it will due or cause big delays. reason is too much air and not enough fuel. then when you do try to releive this issue, it's too rich at the top. (issue with larger carbs when not needed)

anyway, i'd start off with the stocker and tuen it to see fi you really do need to go up.

26/27MM is more than enough for a stock motor.

Enough to compliment an exhaust and open air box also for more power.............

i have bought and installed 3 of those ebay zoom-zoom carbs. they ran perfect, start great, no adjustments necessary. I have them on 2 200x's and 1 200s. No i am not kidding and they were $26 each...

I agree with DC8fixer. You can get those ebay carbs in the 26-28 range and they will work great. In my opinion though get the carb that has the seperate choke circuit not the one that has the flap that opens and closes. This will save some hassle in tuning the carb. Like this carb
