And so it begins....
Ok this is how its gone to date on the owner ship of my 86 Tri z
So I bought her for the sum of £400 from somebody pretty local who said she runs fine but the elbow for the vacuum pipe has come out of cylinder so untill that goes in she won't start, so I thought for the money she is all there and is a good base to use as a rider! After a few minutes in the shed and a jump start down the lane she was running although like a bag of trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro, but running never the less!
After a bit of messing about she ran a bit better so I decided to take her up the street, where I noticed she was pulling like mad to the right,
After a bit of investigation (remember this is my first 3 wheeler) I realised tha infact the one rear wheel was off possibly a raptor, and therefore 4x110 not the standard 4x100 it should av been as it was on the standard hubs and what had been done was that 1 of the previous owners had botched it to fit (badly!)
So the more I looked at her the more I found wrong (typical) the list goes like this
1, wrong wheel on rear
2, cracks in swing arm (2no)
3, completely fecked rear shock ( pogo stick style)
4, 1 of the front forks no oil at all (oil seal gone = pogo stick effect)
5 carb needing dialing in
6 handle bars from some sort of kids toy!!!
So this weekend the fun started! The big strip as began (tho due to getting married soon it's gonna take a while!)
The plans are as follow;
1, full strip down
2, powder coat frame red then pant of the top in candy metal flake!
3, powder coat swing arm white then paint over pearl White!
4, pro taper bars
5, full fork rebuild
6, rear shock (not sure of options yet I kno warrior 1's work)
7, cow hide seat cover (this is gonna split opinions)
8, modern quad pegs
9, new plastics (may go down the White and black route so the frame sticks out?)
10, paint good condition standard exhaust!
11, brake over haul (needed badly! Braided lines etc)
12, general blind parts (asv levers etc)
13, yfz hubs and wheels
I'll keep everyone informed of my progress and try and get some pica up when I'm on PC not I phone!!!
I'm open for any suggestions advice etc!!!
Thanks
Ricj
