It's possibe you have the slide in backwards. But more than likely you just have a worn out throttle cable. Order a new one, replace and make sure the throttle(thumb or twist) is clean.

You didnt hit anything or roll the bike before this started did you? You could have kinked the cable.

maybe its just me, but this makes little to no sense to me. It sounds like maybe your slide isn't sliding? Or like what these guys said, your cable is sticking but you think you would notice if the you pushed the thumb throttle and it wouldn't return. I had a problem with my slide once where it just wouldnt slide. I sprayed carb cleaner around the top of the carb and reinstalled the slide and it was good to go. Just need a little TLC.

no i didnt hit anything when i pull cap off top where throttle goes in the piston that slides goes in with a groove that slides up and down and if it omes up to far piston spins and screw wont line up with groove so throttle stuck open

I see what you are saying now. The slide will go in the top of the carb 2 ways, and one is the wrong way. The right way will let it drop the deepest into the top. I dont understand why it is spinning in there though unless the ear is broke off of the inside. Ill walk outside and look at one on the extra carbs I have in the shed.
Edit:
I looked at a spare carb, and the ear I was talking about is steel and pressed into the side of the slide. I doubt it can fall out and you not notice it, and the throttle adjuster should keep it from spinning in there too.
