Found an 84 Rokon near me for $2200 that is supposed to run. The tires are cracked but hold air. It doesn't look beat. Thoughts?

www.rokonworld.com The price seems pretty fair, they hold their value well. If you never owned one you need to know that they are very slow, loud, rough riding, but are the coolest things in the world if you don't mind these. They also take a lot of tinkering to keep in tip top shape. Rokon is still in business and you can buy almost everything right from them.

I think if the guy can prove to me it runs and all is functional I'll grab it. With some haggling though! It won't take too much to clean up and ride.

If you're like me you wont regret it. Blast to ride as long as you're not in a hurry.

I'm thinking of the shock and awe factor to own such a rare machine. For these parts anyway.

Almost forgot the important part. When you go look at it and ride it, pull it up to a tree or something unmovable. Hit the gas a little and if it climbs the front 2x2 is working. If it doesn't you'll be able to tell which tire is getting power. It helps with bargaining but is usually something simple if its not working. Usually, not always.

My uncle has one that's been sitting awhile. I got it going a few years ago. Ever since he had it the front wheel didn't work so i took it apart and the key fell out of the shaft. His is all orginal yet with a chrysler 2 stroke motor and some weird air filter that looks like wood and it's water proof. His is a trail breaker and its either a late 60's or early 70's without the gas/water tanks for wheels.

This one is a Trailbreaker and has the 2 stroke Chrysler in it too; and the fuel tank wheels. I would prefer it to be older but who can complain. Thanks for the advice on checking the two wheel drive system 86T3.

You don't really want an older one. I have a 69 and it has an albion transmission. I like it better than the newer plunger style like yours but you can't get parts for them. The clutch on mine is also hard to find. They sell a replacement one at rokon but its not very good i guess. Yours has a headlight too i think, mine does not and its very expensive to put one on. Its actually cheaper to buy a new motor than to put a generator or lighting circuit on mine.

Blue ranger, there are a couple keys and some shear pins on the driveshaft that can be simple fixes to get it working. Also, sometimes there is a problem with the override spring. I just had to gut a new one in mine. Its worth getting it working because you can go over so much more with it. Although, i've been out to IL 5 times or so and never saw a hill that was rokon worthy;-)

I saw a rocon on the show pawn kings the other day. Really looks like an interesting bike with the front and rear wheel drive.

I have an 06 trail breaker that I got as a basket case. I rebuilt it, and just got to try it out last sunday. It has the kolher motor in it which is really quiet. Not a very fast bike and not too much power, but i rode for two hrs on some quade trails and some logging roads, some bush riding. It's almost un stoppable off road, the ride was'nt as bade as I thuoght it was going to be and I checked the gas when I finished, and could'nt tell that I used any. will probably never sell it.

Still on the fence with this purchase. Elbow deep into the 90's now. It's not going anywhere so it may all come together later on. Lowranger, do you mind telling me what it cost you to purchase and fix up?

The bike was broken in 1/2 when I got it. So alot of welding and had to replace a shaft in the trans plus all the drive that goes to the front in the frame. I payed $800.00 for the bike in pieces and i think the drive was around $200.00. I got the drive parts from Fillmam Machine, he makes after market parts for rokons.

Thanks lowranger. This guy wants $2200 and it's supposed to be a runner. It looks complete but the tires are cracked. There is a dealer in Calgary. I'll think I'll contact them and do some snooping around. Where is Fillmam Machine located?
