I'm a fan of the 5.3 and 6.0 LS motors. One of the best engines ever made by GM in my book. If well maintained they can run many, many miles.
And if you ever have to replace, they are so plentiful in salvage yards you can buy a low mile one for cheap, very much unlike a Ford 5.4, or Dodge 5.7, which are hard to find and expensive, mainly because they tend to go bad more. I have seen several Ford 5.4's at auctions with bad motors at less than 70k, even bought a couple of them. Bad LS motors are pretty rare. I'm not knocking any brand, but I have bought and sold them all, and that is my experience.
Code200k is right about the gauges, if they're not bad, they will be. I have fixed several, you have to replace the stepper motors. If you have some mechanical and soldering skills, you can do it. I think you can do all the gauges for about 40$, buy the stepper motors on e-bay.
Actually sounds like a pretty good deal if it's a nice truck.

Stepper motor drives the gauge needle. My buddy fixed his own speedo for 8 bucks by de-soldering and re-soldering in a new on on his Yukon... 6.0L is a great motor, thirsty motor, but a good motor...
