in STOCK form i think it was the Tecate, then 250r, then the Tri-z....could be wrong but i think i read that way back in an 86 dirt wheels shoot out

I've heard the same thing. Tecate, 250r, then Tri-z.
I will tell you this though... my 250r is scary fast. IMO there is no need for speed like this. In other wards, any of these bikes are fast enough for the normal person.

Yeah and I'll agree with what I've read. For each year of trike, it's always Tecate, then 250R, then Tri-Z.. But don't quote me on that, that's just what I've read ;)

You mean in 81 and 82 the tecate was faster?

I think in actual speed stock, the 84/85 Tecate's were faster but not necessarily the easiest to ride fast, the "Liquid" 250R's were the hot setup as far as user friendliness, Kawie tried a comeback with the 86/87's but the writing was on the wall at that point, the guys racing trikes had their brand loyalty and the new racers were mostly on quads so the 86/87 Tecate never had the chance to see its full potential... Kawasaki was getting serious just as the CPSC slammed the door shut

The tecate is the quickest, but I think a 250r would beat it in the long haul top speed factory vs factory. The Yamaha Tri Z is also by no means slow. They rip just as good as the rest of them if you ask me. The first time I rode mine, I was very impressed by the power delivery, and the only mods it had were DG pipe w/ answer silencer.

^ i heard the same thing. The tecate is quick because its geared lower then the 250r but the R has a higher top speed.

I've heard the Tecate was the quickest and responded the fastest, the Tri-Z had the most low end, and low power, but the 250r was the most agile, and overall highest categoried trike.

In a drag race the fastest is the Tecate then 250R and Tri-Z tied.
On a twisty track the fastest is the 250R then Tri-Z then Tecate.
Because the Rs usable power band and good suspension.
Just MHO based on a bit of TT racing back in the 80s.

The 86 3-wheelen magazine says 86 250R, 86 tri-z then the tecate (5-speed, the others are 6-speed). If i had a scanner it would be up on this site already
