Just got done putting my 200x back together. Tore it down to the frame and repainted and greased up. Rode it down the rode and it actually didn't fall apart! :-D I did however have one hex bolt about 1/2 inch long i couldn't figure out where the hell it went!

Its gonna be hard taking that bike out into the mud! You did a exellent job on it. Thanks for helping me out also. I'm going to start another 200x project here pretty quick. I found a roller for 60 bucks. I have to go pick it up this weekend. I might stick a 200s motor in it. How much was the spark arester on your bike? nice Job!

You know what they say....If you have spare parts left over, then you are a pretty good mechanic. :D

Looks good ;)

No kidding! Before I started tearing it down I took it to our state forest 2 weeks ago. We had like a week of rain prior to going and it was a swamp. Im going out tomorrow but it should be pretty dry since we haven't had any rain in over a week.

Yeah, you'll be swerving to miss the mudholes! Make sure you get some curetime on the engine paint.

Looks absolutely fantastic....

you might want to take a buzz sander to those cylnder fins (only the top 5 or 8) since orginally they were ground down to the metal.

Just to be authentic!!

Great job!

To answer a few questions. The pipe is a DG krome power that i purchased for around $130 from dennis kirk. I used just plain ol Rustoleum Red and Aluminum.

Here are some pics of it after I was done including some from us riding today...

Sorry,i didn't see that. Did you clear coat it? How many coats of red? Looks good, nice and glossy :)

No prob.... I put 3 coats on it. No clear coat, that red is pretty shiny as it is and every time i try to use clear coat it messes up the paint job. The red coats very thick, the aluminum is more thin and i put 4 coats for the aluminum.

Great! What kind of paint did you use for the motor? Is that original paint. Any high temp or ceramic? Have it sand or bead blasted? Thanks for any answers!

jdparsons1

For the motor I degreased, used a small wirebrush to knock off any loose paint or thick grease, degreased again, let dry a day and then painted with high gloss high heat. Not ceramic though, i don't like how the ceramic black looks.
