Oil pressure on a 185S

How do you know if you have good oil pressure on a 1981 Honda 185S? Should oil spray out of the valve cover if it is removed from the head? Drained the oil and I see a lot of silver (aluminum) material (really fine dust if you will, no chunks).

I remeber running mine with the covers off and everything within a 3 foot radius around the bike got shiney.

so yes, they should spray.

I'd guess running it for a minute or so with a paper towel covering the valve cover holes
should soak 'em a little.

There may also be a right way to check oil pressure, that I would really like to know too

if it sprays oil out the valve covers then you know your good to go? i dont see any other reason why to check it..
