I just bought a 1983 185s and have a few problems with it, like the pull start isn't there, and I can't seem to find one on the internet, also I cleaned the carb and don't know the adjustment specs. Also whenever I move it, its very squeaky, is this normal? Also one more thing, how do I check if I have spark? Any help would be appreciated, thanks Jesse

oil your chain its rubbing on the gard it gets realy annoing when your riding try pushing it in 3rd to start it and you have to pull the plug and push it to see if it sparks

BCR, are you drinking again? LOL....if you chain IS in fact rubbing on the bottom of the chain guard housing, not only should you clean and lube the chain, but also tighten it to spec or the problem will continue. The squeaking sound may also be bad rear axle or front wheel bearings or possibly the brakes are partially stuck/ dirty/ or hanging up. To check for spark, 1:remove the spark plug(make sure it is good/buy a new one) 2: attach the spark plug wire to the spark plug 3: ground the metal on the side of the spark plug to the engine ( head or cooling fin) 4: with the kill switch in the "on" position, turn the engine over and see if you have a spark (yup, you will need a recoil starter for this step). Like BCR said, you can pull or push start the trike in 2nd or 3rd gear.

those manuals are a life saver, I just readjusted my carb on my 84 200 es, and found out the kid I got it from had the pilot jet about 4 turns out, and he couldn't figure out why it was smoking, gee I wonder when spec says 1 7/8, put it back to spec and it stopped smoking, now I just need an oem air filter, as the have a little aftermarket cone filter on it and I am not able to get an even idle, has an issue with climbing from a slow and steady idle to a death idle in about 3 min.

Recently I ordered a clymer manual, are these good? And I oiled my chain, and its still squeaky so I'm pretty sure the bearings are prolly bad, is this easy to fix/a lot of money? Again all the help I can get is very appreciated, thanks a lot Jesse

yes it will work for your 185s but more than likely it will be running rich, you'd be better off looking for a 200s carb than an x, also, why did you buy a clymer manual when if you go to the world class help section here there is one stored that you can download to use. your 185 is not bored out by stock means, the only way to find out if it is is to open the motor and measure, and then if you have no experience with things like that we highly discourage it. look at the back side of the jug and see what cim it says there, will give you a good idea what you actually have in it. I understand you're new to this and curious about what is what but try to take things one step at a time with what you got. if you wanna check your rear carrier bearings the easy way and see if they are the squeak shift the grab bar from left to right while all tires are on the ground and see if the rear end shifts, your squeak could be coming from the rear brake seals as well. all I can say is take your time and do one known problem at a time till you have it running then as you find more go from there. a squeak can come from anywhere on a three wheeler that has sat

Well actually I ordered it last week before I found this site and just haven't got it yet, and the person I bought it from said they bored it so I was just wondering, but I was messing with the front brake yday and I found the squeak, so I loosened it and now its fine, I'll have to check if the bearings are bad by doing what u said, and ya I'll try and dial it back a bit with all the qu's I have about aftermarket stuff. Again I rlly do appretiate all the help, Jesse
