Did you find the thread where they posted pics and how to do it? I think they have had good success with it, probably the only sure fire fix

I was talking to my mechanic about doing this on my 200x. I think mine will go some day here soon.
He said that he did do that for a customer. He said it does work for a while, but the new exposed metal is softer. He said the one he did only lasted for about a year and then it went bad again. Possible he should have changed the spring too...
Thats what he said.. Don't know for sure though.. He did say he would do if for me though if I wanted to try it. But mine works for now. I just take my time starting it. Give the spring time to move the gear over. And never kick, kick, kick in a row. Good luck!

Do you upgrade the spring using the spring from the XR200 96 or?

I back-cut my kicker gears a couple months ago. Relatively easy to do, read the thread in the world class help section. Make sure to go slowly and not take out too much at once. I could not find a replacement spring, so I stretched mine out a bit. Not a slip once all winter with a fresh top end.

yea i reread that thread a 100 times and im sickk with a dremel so i figured id maybe try her out...just sucked cuz i went back to a stock piston instead of my high comp n threw that spring in was all siked about it...threw her together kicked 3 4 times perfect then busted my leg cuz it slipped..so i just got drunk

I went with a stock piston also. Guess I want to see haw the kicker holds up. If it makes it till fall I probably go with a 10.5:1 piston.

I use a 1" table top belt sander to cut the ratchet gears . I feel I have better control doing it that way over the hand grider .
