I had a look at the muffler on my 250ES yesterday.

It appears it has split/rusted out along the bottom of the muffler body, possibly where a seam is.

I have looked into the replacement price and wonder it there is a cheaper, simple way to get a bit more out of it before I have to replace.

My thought was to take some sheet metal and wrap it around the muffler, then use 3 or 4 band clamps to hold in place.

Has anyone tried this? Is it effective?

If necessary I could remove the exhaust and have a 'skin' welded onto it at a buddy's shop. It's just that removing it looks like a pain in the ass.

Ideas anyone?

sheet metal and large hose clamps will work if you have that laying around for free....... it will get you by.
I like the idea of welding up a new skin. On E$ay they have a few for sale.
