Shock recharging?

Where can you get a rear shock recharged? Like the one on my tecate calls for nitrogen. Does it make the shock stiffer, or what is it's purpose? Thanx again.

the dealer i use say they can do it (recharge it)
it takes nitrogen (gas, not liquid) @ around 750 psi.. to make the shock work properly.not sure how much to cost but i think they have a website
