Shipping was a crazy thing. you would have to ask RideRed250r for details. he dealt with all that. i payed what we thought it would cost minus $20 to put the deal at what i was willing to pay. then RideRed250r had to build the crate, then 3/4 of the way through shipping the carrier demanded $100 more dollars or they were going to leave it where they were at! so again he had to eat that. so we waited til i received the 3 wheeler and now he is gonna go after the company. this all after it took 4 days longer then they said. i cant believe they could ask for a price, u pay them, then they take longer and make u pay more....crazy. so basically it was not a good thing to have to deal with. to say the least RideRed250r was awesome about it and i really appreciate it. its members like that, that really make this community a great thing. a genuinely nice dude. thanks man.

What company was it? When Frank Destra shipped my 250R from California he used these guys.. It was a great experience.. If I have to ship a bike I will use them again in a heartbeat.

Nice bike good luck. YRC has damaged some of my freight in the past and they were a bear to deal with. What freight class did you use? That may have changed things once they figured out what it was. Anyway at least it came to you in one piece!!:p

It's a crap shoot when shipping...Alot of companies lead you to believe they run their own trucks but they don't. They're just brokers that work with individual truckers to set up your shipment...Anything can go wrong or a trucker will stop for a day or two at his "honey hole" and then just threaten to leave your stuff where it is if you question why it's taken 4 days longer or demand more money to deliver...essentially holding your goods hostage...

The bigger companies like YRC can be a crap shoot too... YRC is the old Yellow Freight co. and Roadway combined. I had good luck with central freight in the past shipping 5 tires, but I could just as easily have run into problems...

Good lookin R by the way!

I used Land Air Express New England to ship a motor to California, and they were absolutely great to deal with. Got the motor there is less time than expected, and that damn motor was HEAVY!!

I had a trike shipped recently. I wanted to go with Central Freight but one didn't exist where I was having it shipped from. Central Freight does great from what I have heard.

I ended up going with ABF freight and I cannot say enough good things about them. It got here 1 day earlier than scheduled and everything was perfect. Not a scratch on the crate.

The price was great when compared to other companies. Just make sure to have whatever facility it is being shipped from weigh it BEFORE it leaves. That way you will have no surprises in shipping cost when it arrives. ABF is a great company to ship with!

Ive got a guy that I have used and have turned other people on to him. He will do Las Vegas ( area) to the east coast. HE IS AWESOME, fully insured and arrives on the minute that he said he would. Ive begged him to do Cali runs for me but he wont.

Ive got another guy i use for the Cali runs and he shows up with in a 24 hour window.

If any of you guys need a bike from the Las Vegas area to the east coast or vice versa AND ARE NOT GONNA WASTE HIS TIME. PM me and ill give up his number. He books in advance so the longer you can wait so he can book other shipments the better the price gets.

Nice R.

As for the shipping, I would threatten to sue. Go after the broker, they are suppost to ensure all is taken care for you. Once you have agreed and payed the shipping, any additional cost falls uppon the broker. You can sue for the extra cost plus the agrivation and worry you were put through dealing with this situation. You should be able to get the full shipping cost back.
This would fall under blackmailing aswell. The fact that they said that they would hold the item for ransome will swing the argument in your favor. It's a case of hwy theft.

I used ABF to ship my trike from CA to TX. They quoted $600 in writing for a head-load. When when the truck was half way there they sent me a bill for DOUBLE payable before delivery! I got on the phone and raised hell and they backed off. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Make sure you get your quotes in writing.
