Ok i Know this is not a trike but its still cool and old school and I thought you honda heads would know what direction to point me in...:wondering
I have a 86' XL250R twin/carb/pipe that has only 4k miles but it had sat in a basement for years before i got it...So it was hard starting when I got it since it had low compression but it ran good..the rings rusted from sitting..now the it wont start at all...Im going fix the top end...Where is the best place to buy parts...bike bandit did not have a piston and ebay does not have crap for the 250r at the moment..also..
If the rings are just weak and the cylinder/piston is fine can I get away with just putting new rings in it? Or do I have to go .25-1mm over?

I Have a 87 xl250r in the garage now,a friend bring me it to rebuilt the engine,.75 and 1.00 oversize are discontinued,.50 is available and I have wait 1 month to get it,don't know about the .25
Wiseco have a kit with many oversize for the bike,or check ebay I'm pretty sure you can find somthing easily.
Check your cam, rocker and head, they seem to have some problem at this point,I have see many of them with bad cam and rocker, and don't forget to install the cam bearing on the good side,on the wrong side you will lost oil pressure to the cam.

Thanks for the tips....Yeah I bought it since I have been looking for one for years that has not been smashed and found this one that looks almost new.. I paid way too much for it..$1400 since it had low comp but I didnt even care since I was able to try it and all systems worked great and was able hit 80+mph no prob :) and it looks bad ass...red white and blue with a blue seat...even my wife thinks its cool and shes hard to impress with anything old school...even with the low comp this thing was tourqy it didnt even seem to affect the way it ran but only the way it started and I could feel the low comp in the kick start...When both carbs open up its got mad pull for a 250 it almost felt like a 2 stroke power band...
Im ordering parts today I just have to track them down...piston/rings/gaskets...I think im going to try and find a .25 and match the cylinder...
