why don't you just grab a used exh of CL and mod it. Heck I just gave away an exh that I couldn't tell ya what it went to. But that Kerker fit my X with a new bracket. Didn't sound too bad either

Just sent it out to Onnie, Robby's boy, for his 200X.... more bling for the kid. I'd just find a an exh off a 300 or 400ex or a 450r and mod it. will look alot cooler then hacking one up unless your into more work. a cherrybomb,,,, well is more redneck than most will bring apon themselves

Yeah I wouldnt go with the Cherry Bomb either. Deff check CL. Hell, I just bought a brand new Cobra exhaust system for my SX for 20 bucks off CL.

or if there r any 350X guys that want it let me know.

An 85-86 Big red "can" is almost exactly the same and can be found pretty much anywhere for cheap $$. Cut-it just north of the original weld where the can meets the exhaust, then spend $20.00 to pay a good welder to attach your secondary pipe to it. At the very worst you might have to bore (in or out) the rear mounting bracket holes. They have more than enough extra material to do so. I did this well over a year ago, and it looks 100% stock, and worked / sounded perfectly. I just recently sold-it to a guy who has another 250SX and he didn't notice the difference till I pointed-it out as not being 100% original.

I searcehd for two years looking for an aftermarket exhaust for my SX....the previous owner cut-out the spark arrestor because it "sounded more bad-ass that way" yehaw! Let's start a wildfire!

I have an extra sx exhaust here and I cut tue tip off of it and took the tip out and it sounds good but in don't think it gives my bike enough back pressure the bike needs

I am sure there is better alternatives for you, But I will say that my friend built a decent muffler out of a cherry bomb for an FT500 powered go kart.. It was a 2" core unit about 16" long.. he added a mounting tab, then welded a washer into the outlet end and inserted a 6" long peice of 1" tubing into the washer to serve as a quite core insert and add some restriction. When it was done it had a nice factory appearance. I cant say how it performed as we had no other basis for comparison.. The engine ran well after a jet change. The homebuilt muffler was very effective at noise reduction, but very heavy. Much to heavy for me to ever use one, But I am sure the concept could be played with for different results.. for example a different length glasspack, different insert length and diameter, etc..

In all seriousness....I'd go the route I suggested with the BR Can. It's the easiest & cheapest route to go to ensure a bit of performance integrity and still look stock. As CR480R pointed-out....there are many routes to take that will work-out just fine, but a lot of them require a lot of trial & error to get right. I have a feeling your like me....very handy, but some things are just to much to take-on....it's just easier to pay a reasonable fee & have an expert do-it right.

If you look at the part numbers on the cans they are all exactly the same between the BR & SX, with the exception of the last digit wich I'm sure denotes the header pipe difference. In this economy great welders capable of burning a clean, straight, strong bead would be more than happy to do such a simple job for $20.00

I had the Cobra full exhaust system on my 86 250es and it wasnt that loud, then one day the tip fell off the silencer ( only held on my a tiny bolt and a barrel clip) I decided to remove all the packing from the silencer to see if there was any sound difference and there wasnt. Pretty much a straight pipe on it after that but some how wasnt much louder than my buddys stock 85 250es:wondering Cobra technology at its finest!

ima have to look thru HMF and see which one will come closet to the sx one and have it welded at the shop i get all my trucks done at.

Mine came off either an 85 or an 86 BR I wish I could remember for you?! What I do know is that the two mounting tabs on the can itself lined-up exactly with the ones on my SX's but the BR's were actually much wider.......which is a good thing in case you are off a bit after you get the header welded on it you will have enough extra material on the tabs to drill new holes, or at least bore-out the originals. I got lucky, for the first time in my life I actually was spot-on with my measurements and after I gave the end of the spark arrestor a knock with a sledgehammer with a piece of 2x4 as a buffer it lined-up perfectly with the frame brackets.

google Davesusaatvrecycling for the phone number....he's located just north of Tampa. I was there about a month ago just to poke around looking for a new project. He had enough BR stuff to probably complete about 6 full trikes..... I know he'll have a decent BR can for you for a reasonable price, and I've been told that even though the gearing is quite different that if you get the same model year the clutch internals for a BR & SX are interchangable. I don't know that as fact......but I'd bet Dave will.
