Dude, when someone is trying to help you and you won`t give more specifics or be willing to accept the answer given, you can`t be mad about it....and NO you did not ask about the differences, you asked if it was "better"
you asked this same question in another thread a couple days ago but here it is again for some reason
http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php?127749-200x
so you seem deadset on an XL185 cam....stick it in and stop asking questions you don`t really want answers to.
there are guys here who have tried everything under the sun to improve a 200X including PROFESSIONAL racers and i can tell you that I have yet to hear a single person on this forum UPGRADE a 200X with an XL185 cam in the 5 years I`ve been reading this forum
Welcome to the forum from one 200X fan to another but you might tone it down a bit and maybe you`ll get somewhere

Well as Just "common" sense would tell me a 185cc is not going to have nearly as much airflow by lift or length of lift to IMPROVE performance on a motor that is 200cc or they may be just the same not BETTER! that would be my mechanical .2c

back to the point of the question. different cams are made for different ranges. some cams are made for top end power, that is when you are running you trike fast. the cams made for low end are made for pulling. when you go either range you loose a little off of your other range. for example, choosing sprocket. if you go up in the rear you gain more top speed, but it takes longer to get to where you normal speed was. same thang with the cam. i am really shocked that the other members didn't mention this while scalding you. that is the reason your question was rague. the term wasnt intended to harmfull, just informative. as for as which cam, when you find out let me know

Hi cupcake :D
OP, we have a ton of threads on an XR200 cam being an upgrade as well as exhaust/air box mods, etc etc. The 185 is going backwards......

Thanks dirtcrasher i thought that the XL185 cam would be smaller but im new to these sites and was reading here and there about that the XL185 cam 79-83 was a special one and that it was a little larger but reading always fell short and was just triying to find anyone that might have one handy or know the speces so i didnt buy one and find out im out money for nothing. I have a 85 200x powroll stroker ported 27mm carb and a 218cc piston 66mm 10:1 and looking for a bettet cam.I know its a little much for trail rideing but it workes for me.Thanks for the help.

1979-1983 XL 185S
1983-1984 XL 200R
So yes, the xl185 does have the better of the stock cams. Either way if your bike already has the upgrades you listed, I'd look into a megacycle or web cam. You won't be disappointed.

if you want for sure performacne gains, go do a google search for web cams and get a stage 1 or 2. the stage 1 is mid grade and much better than xr200 but it's 2Xs the cost. it will how ever work on stock vavle springs and such and stocker rockers. stage 2, not 100% but it may also work on stocker stuff. the site tells ya.
here I'll be nice since you appologized.

use the drop downs to find the 200x stuff. it's about $132 for the cam average.. yea stay with stage 1 unless you wanna replace valve springs too.

I believe that to be true. I was pretty sure I'd read the 185 cam was better on more than one occasion, but I've slept since then so I googled it to be sure. But honestly man, look into a web or a megacycle, they're awesome. Dollar for dollar it's probably your best bet. If your anywhere near needing a top end rebuild you might look into replacing your 10:1 piston with a 12:1 and running one of the hotter cams they offer for some more serious power. That would most likely require heavier springs as well but I think webcams offers them for around 20 bucks to use with your stock retainers.
