I need a new carb for the 1986-87 200x, the carbs i see on ebay do not look like the oem's ,especially the carb caps where the throtle cable slides in. It appears my original throttle cable will not fit these. Actually all i need is a oem carb cap, my carb is not bad just the cap needs replaced. HELP!

Will this cap fit the factory carb that is on the 86-87 200x? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330509479304

Mine is 1.136 inches measured just like in the link. Converts to 28.85 mm. It very well may fit.

I went ahead and ordered the cap off ebay but The problem is that all the new carburetors which they call "oem replacements" ,are not the correct carbs. They are designed fit the 1983-85 model 200X's ,a real difference is the carb cap where the throttle cables goes. The 1986-87 OEM cables are much larger in diameter and will not fit these aftermarket carbs so you have to go with an aftermarket cable also and may not run as well as the oem or so I have heard. The oem 86-87 caps do not have threads and brass fittings and the crazy thing is the throttle cable cannot be removed from the cap because the C-clip was inside the housing of the carb cap. I tried and tried to remove the cap from the cable,it cannot be done.

^ I can't remember how I did it but I got mine apart. It was the only way to run a 28MM EBAY crapper carb on my 87 200X.........

And I forget what cable I got but DEEPA knew and told me what he thought would work. It adjusted fine, it's just that the carbs are jetted wrong and not OEM at all........

Problem solved!! For you guys with the 1986-87 200x.... The carb cap posted in the link above is a perfect OEM replacenent and is identical. I have learned when replacing the OEM throttle cable you MUST replace the cap also,, because there is a clip that cannot be romoved that is inside the cap and it permantley holds the cable to the cap. So when you replace your cable you must buy this cap and it also comes with a fitting for aftermarket throttle cables. The new cap already has a C-Clip istalled so all you have to do is snap the new NOS OEM cable in the carb cap but once it is installed it cannot be removed.
