Hey guys and girls ! Well, took my 1985 200x out for its first ride yesterday and messed her up pretty good. Ripped apart the engine today and heres what i found

Piston has TONS of pitting, looks like from pieces of metal
Cylinder has wear marks from my valves hitting it
Bent intake valve :) Potentially exhaust too, didnt take that one out though.

So im thinking i slipped the timing chain ! I see a hole for a bolt that goes right behind the tensioner, that bolt was backed right now, does it help push the tensioner onto the chain ? Im 99% sure i slipped the chain. She started to burn tons of blue, i thought a bad seal somewhere, lol guess it was that bent valve :lol:

So heres what im lookin to know !

- For a cylinder, head and general engine parts, what year ATC parts fit ?

- Are the top ends of the XR, 200x, big red etc. etc. compatible ? And if so what years ?

- Headlight doesnt work because the alternator is providing no power, what year alternators work !

- Also is there any good updates i should do when im in there besides the usual stuff, maybe say a cheap/easy cam or something of the like ?

Thanks alot guys n' girls. At least my Daily driver honda works good...

The xr transmission will fit, so I'm thinking so will the cylinder, but I think all 1st gen parts are interchangable

So then what im looking for is an 83-85 xr200, or atc200 cylinder and head and piston ? Are the regular atc's the same (as in not 200x) as long as they are 200s ?

rebuilt engines (http://www.mwdauto.com/)

This means that rebuilding transmissions does not have any guarantee when it comes to lifespan, because it will depend on the condition of the replaced parts and its operation history. If you want to learn how to rebuild transmissions, the first and best thing that you can do is to search for a book that will teach you how to rebuild a particular transmission. There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to rebuilding transmissions.
Any one got a good place to get transmissions for sale?
