I just bought a 84 250r...its in pretty good shape, but the guy kinda tore it down as he was going to restore it. he said it ran before he starting tearing into it...i put everything back the way i think it should go, and found out i have no spark. i checked resistance at the killswitch. its working correct. i checked the wires coming from the stator the 3 prong flat connector. i have juice coming from the middle prong n the plug when i kick it. i believe this is my spark as the harder i kick the brighter it is, and it somewhat pulses...but the 2 outside prongs i get nothing...from what i can tell im not getting any juice to the coil....is there any way i can actually check to see if my coil is good, and where else to look or test to try to find my spark issue? any information would be greatly appreciated at this poitn. thanks in advance

thanks man, i tested it, my excitor coil is out on the stator.. still have light side of it, but thats useless without spark lol.....would you happen to know what year span stators i can use?? also what type of flywheel puller should i get??? theres a ton of different pullers out there and want to make sure i get the right one. maybe someone could send a link for the puller i need?

You need a puller like this for the flywheel: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Flywheel-Puller-ATC70-ATC110-ATC185-ATC200-FL250-CR480-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2eb35f6341QQitemZ20057 7868609QQptZMotorsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories The big threaded side screws into the flywheel with reverse threads. I Know for a fact you can use a stator from 81-84 atc 250r, and there are probly others. Good luck!

do you guys think its worth it to replace the excitor coil on my stator, or just get a entire replacement stator? because i found these, that i could solder in and hopefully have it running

Have you gotten it running yet? What did you end up doing for a stator?

haha yea this was fixed like 4 years ago. bought a stator from someone on here. got it running. found out the 2-3 shift fork was bent, so sold the 3 wheeler like 3.5 years ago
