I got an 82 R and need some suggestions on getting the swing arm bearings out. The ones up front in between the motor mount and frame. It looks like it has to come out of the outside. They're seized up too much to get out with a hammer and punch without damaging anything and its the only thing holding me up on this build.Any tricks? PLEASE,PLEASE HELP!

all you can do is keep smashing the h*!! out of that bolt thats what happens when they dont get greased

When i did mine i whimped out an brought it to the shop. Was not really concerned with the axle bearings. Just i believe the swingarm bushings need to be pressed out. I didn't want to damage it trying to beat them out.

a realy good trick with hollow swing bolts is to drill small holes in it and plug one side so you can pump grease in there

I'm not familliar with the early R's but here is how I did my 85. All I needed was a pc of threaded rod, couple 1/2" nuts and washers and a 19mm socket.

I used the same idea to press them back in. You can also use a big vise and the socket.
