There is only a little bit that goes into the final drive damper case over the shaft, all of 1.35oz. (manual specs) I would just drain the rear diff, it takes 80wt. gear oil. 11.8oz in the manual, I just did it by filling until I could put a finger in there and it touched it. Left hand side looking at the rear, big one is the filler, small at the bottom is the drain, it should be stamped on there. There will be a recess spot on the rear skid plate for the drain bolt.

yeah, the 84 holds like 1/2 quart 80 wt HYpoid. at least. I'd make sure of the exact amount, tho.

now the 85+ es sx etc holds 3 point 3 ounces so like less than 1/2 a coffee cup.
Amazing how they put up with such abuse,
anyway
there is an 8mm or 10mm headed bolt on the left side that looks almost
just all the other bolts but is the drain.

I just put my front wheel up in the truck and let it drain that way.

10x faster and I can sorta rinse it out with the squeeze bottle of gear oil.
Now that's on the 85 and newer models.

oh, ok . I see yours is an 84.

There's also an oil filter screen and a spring that should be cleaned too for the engine oil.

Did you know there are manuals free in the world class help section?

Welcome to the world of 3 wheeler addicts.

Be careful, they multiply.
