I just registered here a few minutes ago for the soul purpose of saving my Fat Cat. I believe it's an 87 model (silver engine) but it needs a LOT of work. Parts are very few and far in between for these, so I would like some help. I need:
Front fender
Gas tank (has a small pin-hole in the side, just noticed it a few minutes ago. Probably can be fixed.)
Side panels
Seat cover
Fork seals
Head light shroud
Muffler (from swing arm back)
Any help would be appreciated. If I can't afford to have it fixed, I most certainly would be interested in selling it to someone who will fix it up. Thanks!!

Hey bang_bang...I have a 1986 that I restored, took me about a year to do. My advice is watch ebay and do some calling to Honda shops as you might get lucky and find some NOS parts, but they won't be cheap, especially the plastic. Tanks come up on ebay every once and a while. For the seat, unless you really want a factory "Honda" printed seat, I would find a good upholstery shop to do one. Mine cost me $125 I think to do. Fork seals can be found aftermarket from a variety of ebay sellers or parts warehouses, just need to provide the dimensions when ordering to make sure they will fit. I put fork seals in mine and they were Pyramid brand I think, and I think I got them from a seller on ebay if I remember correctly.
Is your muffler there or totally missing? If it is just rusted, you might be able to salvage it somewhat. If not, there is one place somewhere on the internet that had a reproduction stock one for around $350 or so I think. I will try to find the name and post it if I can find it.
I am guessing that unless you can find a good parts bike to supply you with the mentioned items for a few hundred bucks, you will probably be looking at well over $500-$700 in parts to just replace these items and you will still have some work to do to really clean them up.
When I did my restore, part of the reason it took me a year to do was that I really shopped around for the parts. I think I ended up investing about $850-$900 in parts on mine after the initial $300 purchase of the bike. so I figure I have $1200 plus about 80 hours of work in it. The bulk of my expenses were in the fenders which set me back about $250, but I found new old stock ones. I also had $100 in sandblasting, $60 in a new tire, $50 for new handlebar, $125 for the seat, $50 in decals and an estimated additional $250 to $300 in misc stuff like seals, bearings, piston rings, bolts, washers, battery etc.
I might have a few odds and ends that I will be listing on ebay here soon, but don't think I have any of what you are looking for. I will try to put a list out here in the next few weeks though of what I do have that I am looking to clean out if anyone is interested. Mostly small stuff like maybe some foot pegs, OEM handlebars(broken and welded) etc.
I am actually looking to sell it now as I just don't have the time to play with it as I would like, and I need the space to now restore my 1985 BW200, so if anyone is interested, let me know, here is a pic of it as of last night.
