1985 200x. It will be my first manual clutch machine. Its in pretty good shape. crack in rear fenders, needs brake pads for the rear, muffler might need a gasket, needs a carb cleaning, fork boots, and starts when the plug is clean. Its being delivered from 3 1/2 hours away for $800. Before i buy ill be checking the bearings, lights, suspension, kickstarter, tires, and brakes. Is this a good deal? here are some pictures

Idk how much there going for in your area but I wouldnt pay more that $500 or $600 for that bike. You can get a really nice first gen 200x for $800 around here

Ya maybe 600 at best. I would recommend you wait and buy a 350x. Last year i saw alot of 350's pop up on minneapolis craigslist for 1100 +

A few pop up now and then on craigslist but this is the first ive seen in awhile that has all the plastics in at least fair shape. The guy wanted 1000 for it originally and i offered 800 for delivery. if i went to get it id be spending 160 round trip in gas. do you think dropping to 750 would be fair considering gas price?

I think thats a great deal.... don't know what you guys are talking about, the man is driving 7 hours round trip in a pickup truck, 200 in gas right there... so its a 600 dollar machine, rest is delivery... I'd buy it if i were you.

where is it coming from? I have seen plenty of them out of duluth in the same shape as that one is in for around 500-600 bucks! Thing is though, if he is bringing it all the way to you and you decide not to but it thats pretty shitty on your part, if you dont buy it at least give the guy some money for his gas and time! just my 2cents!

I was thinking the same thing.. Having it delivered removes a lot of your options for haggling..

Well i told him that if it gets here and its not exactly how he described it and stuff that the worst ill do is drop the price a little. Either way ill be buying it and he will be getting cash. ill go ahead and buy it.

THANKS GUYS! just one more thing. Ive never ridden one, nor have i been 2 feet from a 200x. What should i do look for specifically, like what tends to go wrong on these machines that i should keep my eye out for?

It looks like a nice bike. If the lights, brakes, has 90+ psi of pressure on a compression gauge and the suspension isn't dead I'd call it a great deal. That's an $800 to $1000 bike in my area.

Using silicone sealant rtv gasket maker stuff on the top end. It will block the oil passages and starve the head seizing the motor. The kicker gears and spring sometimes go bad which will leave the kick starter slipping. Some of these were fixed by Honda back in the day if I remember correctly. You can use 400ex rear hubs to widen the rear around 3" for more stability. Some people find it easier to start standing on the left side facing the rear and use your right foot to kick backwards. IF you are sitting on it and your foot slips kicking forward it will leave a mean goose egg. An 85-86 250R front fender looks awesome on it, but they are getting hard to find in good condition.

drive sprocket covers are getting harder to find a good used one. If that is missing they are about $75 for a new one.
