Hello, how's everyone doing? I'm new here and was hoping to get some incite on this little wheelie popper. I just picked up this 83 yt 125 for $100. It starts right up but seemed like it was flooding because it didn't run very good and would alway bog down and want ot die....so I cleaned to carb and had the throttle cable rebuit cause there was no tension in the old one cause it was broken.

Now the bike still starts fine but doesn't build up enough rpm to move. I took the carb back off and checked too make sure they were the right jets and according to the book the are so I adjusted the float. This helped a little but it still doesn't run right. I can get the rpms up if I pump the throttle and it'll go and pop a wheelie in second haha but after that wheelie it usually dies. Even of you keep it in first gear it dies.

Any help is much appreciated.

Does it rev up in neutral? Is your air filter filthy? that will make it run rich if they are clogged up bad. If there is no filter, it will make it run lean. The air filter on the 125s are nice and restrictive to cause those problems.

Might have some dirty clutches or somethin if it doesn't want to roll

I would be able to get it to rev up in neutral sometimes when it would first fire up but after i cleaned the carb it wouldn't rev up really at all.

So...now i have figured out why it is because the bike is an 82h or g and not an 83j so the jets were to big. But before I was able to ever change the jets the bike stated idling uncontrollably and Im forced to kill the bike. I checked for air leaks and adjusted the carb, i did everything i could think of. I have the manual and it says it can be caused by an air leak in my crank case. If there was a leak in my crank case is there any way i can check or tell?

Thanks again for the help.
