How long do you ride for before you let her cool down??

I'm taking the KLT for a bit of a workout this weekend. I was wondering how long you can run an air cooled motor hard before you should give her a break? General air temp should be around 20 C. Can't wait to get out there and let her rip.

I ride until I'm tired. That's when the trikes rest. Properly tuned, they don't need breaks.

i rode my old atc200 on a 5hr ride no stops, sept for gas stations, no over heating problems and this was back in summer so it was a good 30+

Should be able to ride all you want. Just let 'er rip. That's the point of an air-cooled engine. As long as you have air moving over/around it, you're fine.

I rode my 200x for about 5 hours and only taking breaks when I got tired. Then, my stepdaughter rode it for another hour, but only in first gear. She never shifted and finally a crank bearing gave out! That is my fault for not teaching her how to shift gears! : (

thanks guys, I sorta figured as much but thought there might have been some factory recommended time. I didn't get any manuals with the bike. Just want to be nice to her.

Ha! I did that to a mates buggy last year after receiving little and/or shonky driving instructions (was told there was just Go and reverse when it was actually a 3-speed auto). It was a total clown act, I should have realised its revving too high. But it deserved it, buggys are ok but trikes are better.

Until it's out of gas, or there is a pond, or river, or lake to drive through lol. That's how my ytm-200 gets treated.

I have never been on a buggy, but I think i would not like it as much as the trikes either.

Never had a problem yet :) Granted I won't take my 200x to the depths of hell that my ytm goes but hey. They aren't all built like a YTM.

On my KLT185 i'll just keep on running till it runs out of gas, that's if I'm constantly running at a good clip.
If I'm putting around in some mudd or pulling a trailer in first gear for a while, I'll even it out by doing a few high speed runs, even though it prolly doesn't need it with those massive cooling fins:lol:

Yeah rock-on KLT185 brother, I've had it pretty toasty a few times already and it just seems to want more. If only more people had stopped going on about how good Hondas are (I'm sure they're great) and had a closer look at what good trikes Kawasaki was building there might be a few more KLTs around.
