That is one sexy gas tank.... Are you putting it on one of your sx's or putting it on a shelf?

Very nice. You know when dealers had old inventory like this back in the day. Tanks especially theyd line em up in the parking lot and run them over with a vehicle? I was recently in contact with a buyer from David Silvers Spares at a large motorcycle auction and he was telling me all about this kinda stuff. They have been buying up honda tanks and body work forever it seems.

Why would you seal a new tank??
WOW! It looked super nice on the ebay add but your pics put it over the top. Any plans for it, or are you just gonna cherish that one for a while?

It’s just my opinion, but I’m the type of person who tries to take preventive measures where possible. Steel can rust; it's only a matter of time. In my mind liner is a cheap insurance. It will keep the inside looking new forever. Even though you may keep your tanks full of fresh gas all of time, moisture can still accumulate overtime. It's much easier to line a clean tank then have to clean and line an old tank. It is only a preventive measure in this instance, not a corrective measure.

Any sort of petroleum based spray on the inside, and a top quality wax on the outside,I'd do 4-5 coats myself. Isn't this a kick,,al of us dreaming it was ours.. I know I'm jealous,,again,NICE score!! And If you wanna sell it,,plz contact me! seriously,,And I know you'll want to make a profit :)

glad to see you guys get as exited as me about this jem!! well, not as extited since its mine lol!! I do believe there is some kind of gray coating on the inside of the tanks from the factory. not sure what they use, but its not just raw steel in there. I dont plan on using it, as i have 85's, and my tanks are fine. I honestly never expected to win it, but hey. It will go on the shelf for a while, we will see what becomes of it in the future. I have already been offered well over what i paid for it, but i will not sell it now. I may have a cherry 86 someday that just screams for this tank! i wonder why replacement tanks wer'nt required to have the warning decals on them??

The government didn't get all down Hondas throat till Sep,Nov of 85. Then we started getting all these envelopes from Honda,,we bought a lot of new ATC's! the envelopes had these stupid warning stickers we HAD to put on. It was all down hill from there,,The best days,,,followed by the worst days. Thanx,to idiots, alcohol and lawyers. Ahh well...
