I picked this tank up the other day and have never seen anything like it. An internet searched turned up nothing as well. I'm thinking its vintage aftermarket or fabricated. You can see the top is flat and its very squared. You can see one petcock in the pic and there is one on the other side as well. Anyone know what this is?

That is an odd duck. It looks to be aluminum, is that correct?

Looks like it may be an old SL tank. It also looks like an old Maico tank, but it it not thick enough.

It is aluminum. I was thinking it was custom or old school aftermarket. Dunno. I'm hoping someone can ID it. Thanks for the suggestions/guesses so far. Keep em coming!

After looking at some pics online the gas cap is the same as the early 70's Elsinore Honda's. Gas tank is the same shape as well. That is my bet, an old Elsinore 125/250 after market tank.
Maybe post it up on an vintage dirt bike forum.

Looks like I have a rare piece.
Looks like a homemade custom job. Not a DG, works, or anything I recognize…
Never know, could have been one of the privateer teams that used it? Pretty trick!
Thanks,

Almost looks like an old roadrace tank maybe even. Only possible drawback to this design is square tends to crack and break thats why most all tanks have a round/curved element in design to them. Flex is good. Rare tho.
Flattrack tank off an early honda twin?? Not sure what..but a nice piece.
