I just bought a new 520/96 o-ring chain for my bike. Stock swinger and the chain is too short even with a 12 tooth on the front. Any suggestions? Half link? Carrier is frozen up can't adjust.

Fix carrier, get correct chain; Don't ruin left case :D
Good half links are hard to find!!
Your just pissing in the wind until you fix the carrier.

I thought a 96 link was stock on an 85 Dirtcrasher? The old chain was a 96 but is was a regular chain not a o-ring. Does that make a difference?

I think o-ring chains are fine for 250Rs or 350X's. Too much drag on lesser displacement engines..... 96 regular is the same as a 96 o-ring, same length but cheap chains will stretch more especially in the beginning.....
I like to have my 1.25" slack with a new chain with the carrier rotated fully forwards, that way it can only stretch and go back. Sometimes you'll end up halfway between full forwards and the 1st line with no half link. Some people like to run a longer chain with the carrier further back for longer wheelbase; As long as it will be adjustable when it stretches.....
I just get 114 links and cut it to fit; the 450R is a 109 link so I wasn't sure if I would need 110/111 being it has a 350X frame/motor.
