Not to handy with the mechanical side of these so here is my issue. 6 months ago it ran fine and now it will only run on full choke. Won't even idle very fast at this setting. It dies the second that I slide the choke off. It is an 1985 Honda 250sx. Do I need a carb rebuild?

Sounds to me like your idle jet is plugged up. You don't really need a rebuild but.....you do need to take the carb off and take the jets out and clean them good. There should be 3 jets on the carb. one is idle, one is power and the other is for the choke. Each one except for the the choke jet you can remove. That one is a pain to remove if you don't destroy it getting it out. Basically just take the carb off, remove the bowl and clean the jets by removing them. While they are out take a wire brush bristle and clean out the tiny holes in the jets. When you reinstall the carb put an inline filter between the carb and tank.
