my bike has been burning oil since i got it, but im driving it till i can afford a rebuild. i have always used 10w40 atv oil and my shifting felt "hard" i recently switched to motormaster formula 1 20w50 and my bike seems to shift alot smoother however when i got home and did a search it showed this oil contains 45ppm of moly, and i noticed in alot of topics "moly" is shunned upon. so whats the deal with moly? is 45ppm bad:wondering

From what I understand, Moly is super slippery, not good for clutches. I use Suzuki 10W40 in all my bikes, no energy conserving additives, no moly, just good old fashioned oil. If I was you I'd find some Suzuki 20W50 or any other kind of motorcycle specific oil...

There are 2 different types of moly additives. As long as the oil your using isn't energy conserving, you will be fine. There are many motorcycle specific oils that use moly additives.

Agreed with that...Look on the back of the oil container at the certification stamp...at the bottom if it says 'Energy Conserving' it is not to be used in a wet clutch system. Castrol 10w40 is NOT energy conserving and that's what I run in all my three wheelers and motorcycles and it seems to work real well.
