The green Kawasaki plastic from the 80's tended not to fare too well with gas (especially when held for long periods), you can try sanding but it often is stained throughout... another option is a tank cover (like the ones from Ceet) or a tank skin from DC Plastics (I have several 84/85 style skins but I'm not a big fan of the look the 86/87 skins give off... another option would be to seal your tank and paint it (with quality products) if sealed properly and painted properly it will last awhile (but not forever) be aware if you dont seal it or use good quality products you will be lucky if it lasts through your first ride. If it was me I would go with the tank cover and hold out hope for someone making a quality repro tank (notice I said hold out "hope" and not hold your "breath")

I've used "Kreem" but I think there are some even better products out there if someone else has any suggestions

There was a thread on "dyeing" a tank black if you wanted to go that route a little while back..It was more of a link to another forum...I don't recall exactly where I saw it on here though..Maybe someone else remembers better.
