The rear shock on my 1987 250sx needs a little fixing. The rubber collar between lower bolt and bushing is no longer useable. Over time the bolt and rubber rusted together so when I removed the bolt, which took some force, the rubber was damaged. I cannot find this part anywhere. After discussions with Hollister Honda, they reported back to me that this part is no longer available. Not surprising. The shock itself is in great shape. I would image other members have ran into this problem during their rebuild projects.

I was thinking about coating the inside of the bushing with some liquid rubber. Does anyone have suggestions on how to fill this gap between the bushing and the bolt? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well if it were me I would forget the rubber bushing. Get a pipe cleaning brush and put it in a drill and clean out the rust and excess rubber. Then I would measure the hole diameter and get it fitted with a bronze or brass bushing that fits the bolt size. You may have to goto a machine shop and have it built but I bet it's less than a new shock, if it were still available. Hell the machine shop may even install the bushing therefore having it presed in and fit tight. Just an idea, if it were me.
